Manager of the Season

Wellington Amateurs are proud to announce that First Team Manager Mike Armstrong has won the West Midlands (Regional) League Division Two Manager of the season. The award was announced at the League Presentation Night at Bescot Stadium, Walsall. The club were officially presented with the Division Two trophy as well as the conduct award for the league.
“This is really the icing on the cake for what has been a very successful season both on and off the pitch. We are extremely lucky to have a manager of such ability. It is fantastic that the league have recognised this,” said match day Secretary Dan Braddock.

Following the AGM of the West Midlands (Regional) League it has been confirmed that The Amateurs will be playing in Division One for the 2008/08 season.
The division will consist of 17 clubs meaning a total of 32 games. Also promoted were Bilston Town (2007) who finished in second place behind The Amateurs.
The season will feature a Shropshire Derby against Bridgnorth Town Reserves and a long trek to Malvern Town Reserves.

The Amateurs Youth team has announced an impressive set of pre season fixtures including a fixture against the youth side of FA Cup giant killers Chasetown. Things kick off on 20th July with a match against Ellesmere Rangers followed three days later with a match against Boldmere St Micheals. This is followed with matches against Tividale on the 29th of June and Chasetown on the 6th of August.

Details for supporters who will be attending the pre season friendly against AFC Telford United are available. The match will take place on Tuesday 15th July at School Grove, Oakengates. Kick off will be at 7:30pm. Admission will be £5 for adults and £2 for children/OAP’s. There will be NO onsite parking for supporters however there is plenty of parking available in Oakengates town centre. Wellington Amateurs Football Club is holding its Summer Coaching Football School at their headquarters at School Grove, Oakengates from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd August.
The sessions will be from 8:30am to 4pm and will cost £12 a day or £60 for the 5 days. Siblings will be able to take part for a discounted rate at £7 per day or £35 for the week. To take part your child must be between the ages of 7 and 13 years old. The Coaching days will be fully supervised by qualified FA coaches and will include ball skills, penalty shoot outs, small sided games competitions, inflatable football pitch and lots of fun!
